I can’t say that I’m a fan of drinking Bloody Marys.
Actually, I can say with certainty, that I’m in fact not a fan of drinking a Bloody Mary. But here I am, posting about Bloody Mary Shrimp Skewers. Let me explain.
Drinking a Bloody Mary isn’t my thing. It’s savory, way-too-tomato-y, most times kind of chunky, and honestly, awkward to drink. What am I supposed to do with that giant stick of celery?
I’d take a Mimosa over a Bloody any day. Now that’s my idea of a morning beverage.
But I don’t hate the ingredients of a Bloody Mary. Not at all, actually. I love them. I’m all about anything pickled, I love horseradish, and I would put celery salt on everything if it was socially acceptable.
I would just much rather eat those ingredients than gracelessly try to slurp them through a straw.
Hence these Bloody Mary Shrimp Skewers.
I’ve been pretty into putting things on skewers lately.
They’re easy, fun, and perfect for entertaining. They make a great presentation, and finger food is always a good choice, especially at a summer gathering.
These Bloody Mary Shrimp Skewers are especially fun, I think. All of the flavors go perfectly together. They’re bright and colorful. They’re dip-able. And, hey, there’s bacon.
If we’re talking favorite Bloody Mary accouterments, anything pickled is at the top of my list. My absolute favorite part about these skewers are the salty, slightly spicy, vinegar-y, crunchy peperoncini.
I use Mezzetta’s peperoncini, which I almost always have in my pantry. Mezzetta sources their golden peperoncini from small family farms in Greece, which is known for growing the sweetest variety of peperoncini. They’ve been working with these small, sunny Mediterranean farms for over 30 years. (Mezzetta is also hosting an amazing giveaway, so be sure to stick around til the bottom of this post!)
In addition to the peperoncini, these Bloody Mary Shrimp Skewers are layered with Mezzetta garlic olives, fresh cherry tomatoes, crispy pieces of salty bacon, pickled okra, and cornichons.
It’s such a simple recipe that requires very little cooking. You could buy cooked, cleaned shrimp to save time and use some leftover bacon, which would make it a no-cook meal that’s on the table in under 30 minutes.

Description
Bloody Mary Shrimp Skewers are a fun appetizer, loaded with all of your favorite Bloody Mary fixin’s! Perfect for entertaining, the Bloody Mary cocktail sauce gets a nice kick from horseradish and hot sauce.
Ingredients
For the Bloody Mary Cocktail Sauce:
- 2 cups canned whole, peeled tomatoes, drained (juice reserved)
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon celery salt
- 2 tablespoons vodka (optional)
For the Skewers:
- 1 pound cleaned, cooked shrimp
- Cooked bacon
- Pickled okra
- Garlic olives
- Cherry tomatoes
- Cornichons
- Mezzetta Peperoncini
Instructions
Make the Cocktail Sauce:
- Drain and measure out 2 cups of whole, peeled tomatoes, reserving the juice. Combine the tomatoes in a blender or food processor with the lemon juice, Worcestershire, horseradish, hot sauce, celery salt, and vodka (if using). Pulse to combine until a smooth consistency. If you would like to thin the sauce out a bit, add some reserved tomato juice to your liking. Refrigerate the cocktail sauce for at least 30 minutes to chill and let the flavors meld. Serve the cocktail sauce sprinkled with additional celery salt.
Assemble the Skewers:
- Assemble the skewers alternating the shrimp with your favorite “Bloody Mary fixin’s,” including Mezzetta Peperoncini, cornichons, fresh cherry tomatoes, garlic olives, pickled okra, and crispy cooked bacon.
- Sprinkle the skewers with celery salt and serve alongside the Bloody Mary Cocktail Sauce. Enjoy!
