Mulled wine is one of my favorite holiday traditions. Whenever I first sip it, I instantly think of fond holiday memories: drinking it at Balboa Park’s December Nights in San Diego with my mom, cheers-ing with a glass on Christmas Eve, holiday parties.
It was only recently that I started making my own mulled wine, and realized how simple, delicious, and easy it was.
It’s already quite chilly here, and a warm glass of this easy mulled wine is just perfect enjoyed at night by the fireplace. It will be even more perfect during the holidays, and I hope that you try it yourself once you see how effortless making this libation can be.
I especially love to make this winter mulled wine when last minute company is coming over. The other day, I had only a 20 minute heads up that our neighbors were stopping by. I always have all of the main components, fruit, and spices for this easy mulled wine on hand during the holiday months, so whipping up this recipe was easy. Making this mulled wine and setting a cozy pot of it on a bar cart for company is something really special. Not to mention, it perfumes the whole house in warm, fragrant spices, vanilla, and apple.
Better than any candle, in my opinion. And drinkable!
The Best Wine to Make Easy Mulled Wine
My go-to wine for creating this recipe is Line 39 Wine. I love this wine for several reasons, from the affordability and value of the wines to the flavor profile and complexity. Line 39 Cabernet Sauvignon possesses a rich body, laced with fruity notes of blackberry and plum with a peppery, vanilla backdrop. It’s the perfect wine to make this easy mulled wine. It pairs perfectly with the toasty, peppery spices, sweet vanilla, fruit, and honey.
I also always have Line 39 Chardonnay during the holidays for my white wine option, which is crisp and refreshing with hints of oak and stone fruit.
