These pumpkin truffles are creamy and decadent, flavored with pumpkin spice and pure pumpkin. Halloween truffles are made into easy mummy shapes for an adorable, spooky spin!
It is spooooky season. (Although, it certainly doesn’t feel like it here on Maui.)
Tell me, are you a “gory” Halloween treat type of person or a “cute” Halloween treat type of person?
I’m definitely cute over gory. No bloody, half-sawed finger cookies or oozing eyeball cupcakes for me. Don’t get me wrong, they’re fun to make and I’ve made plenty in my past professional pastry chef life. Once you make a cake of bloody dismembered guts being eaten by rats, there’s no going back.
Call it my anti-cannibalistic nature or the fact that tons of red food coloring just doesn’t tasty very good — either way, cute Halloween treats all the way.
It’s a shame I don’t have children because I would really shine at making cutesy pumpkin cake pops or fluffy marshmallow ghost cupcakes or colorful monster Rice Krispie treats. But, hey, at least I have the blog.
Halloween Mummy Truffles Ingredients
These Halloween truffles are extra festive because they’re pumpkin spice flavored!
For these pumpkin truffles, you’ll need:
- Semisweet chocolate
- Unsalted butter
- Heavy cream
- Pure pumpkin puree
- Pumpkin spice
- Salt
- Vanilla candy coating
- Toasted pecans (optional)
You can make these with or without the pecans, but I like the texture they bring. Plus, pecans complement the warm spices, pumpkin, and cozy fall flavors of these mummy truffles.
Making These Pumpkin Truffles With Milk or Dark Chocolate
You can make these truffles with milk chocolate to satisfy little ones or those with more of a sweet tooth. Just keep in mind the vanilla candy coating shell is pretty sweet.
You can also make these with dark chocolate, which is delicious!
If using milk chocolate, you will likely want to reduce the heavy cream in this recipe slightly (by about 2 tablespoons less).
We hope that you make and enjoy these Halloween mummy truffles! What’s your favorite Halloween treat? Let us know in the comments below!
