Red, White, and Blue Drink Layers
Each of these patriotic drink layers are colorful and vibrant, no food dye needed! For the red layer, we blend red berries with cranberry juice, which keeps the color nice and bright, and some Greek yogurt for creaminess. The white layer gets some added hidden veggies with frozen riced cauliflower, which helps make it ultra creamy alongside Greek yogurt and coconut milk (you don’t taste the cauliflower). The blue layer is incredibly vivid thanks to blue spirulina powder.
Red Layer
- frozen raspberries
- frozen strawberries
- Greek yogurt
- cranberry juice
White Layer
- frozen banana
- frozen riced cauliflower
- coconut milk
- Greek yogurt
- honey
Blue Layer
- frozen banana
- frozen mango
- coconut milk
- blue spirulina
Layering This 4th of July Drink
The secret to layering any smoothie is allowing each layer to “set” a bit in the freezer for 10-15 minutes. This creates a thin frozen top layer which ensures the next layer doesn’t bleed through, and that you get clean lines.
The other secret is creating each of the top layers by slowly filling the glass with the smoothie using a spoon, opposed to pouring the smoothie layer on top. This method is more gentle and doesn’t break through the bottom layers.
It also helps to have thicker smoothie layers, so use the minimal amount of liquid you need to blend each layer.

Notes
This recipe makes 2 servings if using larger glasses (12-16 oz.) and 3 servings if using smaller glasses (8-10 oz.).
Make this recipe vegan by using plant-based yogurt in place of Greek yogurt and maple syrup in place of honey.
For this recipe, I used non-fat Greek yogurt, unsweetened cranberry juice, and light coconut milk.

Super easy to blend and the white layer is unexpectedly creamy thanks to cauliflower.

the tip about freezing each layer for 10-15 minutes is genius — i always end up with a murky mess when i try layered smoothies. definitely trying that trick next time.
